On behalf of the Blue Mission Banos consortium I herewith invite you to SAVE THE DATE for the first ever Mission Arena, which will take place on 14-16 November 2023 in Gothenburg.     Our goal is to inspire, engage and support actors from politics, industry, science, and civil society to take the necessary actions to achieve the three key objectives of Mission Ocean: Protect and restore marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity. Prevent and eliminate pollution from our oceans, seas, and waters. Make the sustainable blue economy carbon-neutral and circular. The Mission Arena is the first ever large-scale, in-person platform for actors, projects, and initiatives from within the Baltic and North Sea to connect and explore measures to foster Low-trophic Aquaculture & Products Renewable Energy and Multi-Use Solutions Marine Protection and Reduction of Marine Pollution in the Baltic and North Sea, among other things. Through a wide range of interactive sessions, workshops, pitching events, demonstrations and study visits, all participants will have the opportunity to examine: Existing high potential technical solutions as well as innovation gaps. Suitable business models and funding sources. Regulatory incentives and how to overcome barriers. Ways to increase citizen engagement and uptake. Concrete pathways to Mission Ocean relevant actions in Norway (South), Sweden (West-South), Denmark (East) and Germany (Baltic). All stakeholders active or interested in the Baltic and North Sea are welcome to join, contribute and engage with your projects / initiatives. Blue Economy Baltic Forum is a new initiative that aims to strengthen the collaboration within the Baltic Sea Region. By bringing together relevant stakeholders, showcasing successful initiatives and providing relevant information on funding opportunities, Forum will support the implementation of the EU Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters" and the creation of Baltic Ecosystem that plays a key role in achieving climate neutrality and restoring nature. Organizers: National Centre for Research and Development: National Contact Point for Horizon Europe Programme and NCBR Brussels Office, together with the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the Horizontal Contact Point Northern Poland and the Industry Contact Point for Intelligent and Clean Mobility. At the core of European Maritime Day is a two-day conference. High-level plenary sessions including inspirational speakers, leadership exchanges and stakeholder workshops attract experts and stakeholders from across Europe and beyond. The 2023 edition of the European Maritime Day will take place in Brest, France, on 24-25 May as physical event.  High level sessions new approach to a sustainable blue economy maritime security innovation in the blue economy A special session on fisheries will also take place. Pitch stages sessions External interlocutors will present ongoing projects in a pitch stage format, specifically in relation to the maritime sector and to the transition towards a sustainable blue economy. Sea’Ties Round Table – EMD cities A parallel Round Table discussing challenges that port cities are confronted with will also take place, hosted by representatives from The Netherlands, France and Italy. The event will be an opportunity to witness the political commitments of the Mediterranean countries towards the Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters (europa.eu) and to present the actions and initiatives which contribute to the Mission objectives that may be scaled up and replicated in other sea basins. The event will welcome stakeholders from the Mediterranean basin, international and sea basin intergovernmental organisations as well as representatives from regions, cities, ports, islands, shipping, industries, academia, education, researchers, investors, NGOs, citizens and youth. The programme will include demonstrations of EU projects contributing to the Mission’s objectives, side visits to marine protected areas as well as a Blue Islands Day ceremony, with exchanges of best practices, awards to islands championing the Mission and with strong participation from youth and blue schools. Ocean Race Mission: The Ocean Race will visit nine iconic international cities over a six-month period, with leg one starting from Alicante, Spain, and passing through Genova, Italy – The Grand Finale – on 25-26 June 2023. This year the Ocean Race will set a link with the Mission Ocean & Waters. Italian Ministries, MEPs, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, have been invited to attend the event which may be attended by the Commissioner too. "One Ocean, One Mission, One Decade - One Voice" We have set up ambitious objectives to be achieved by 2030 to restore our ocean and waters, and to realize the science we need for this purpose. We are now approaching the middle of the decade, and entering a new phase that goes from mobilization via the Mission Charter and the Ocean Decade Actions, to rally our efforts and work together to see the impact of our collective action, and investigate how we will meet these objectives for 2030. We have One Decade to accomplish One Mission. We need One Voice to achieve the One Ocean we want. EurOCEAN conferences are major European marine science-policy conferences organized every 4-5 years. They provide a forum for the marine and maritime research community and wider stakeholders to interface with European and Member State policymakers and strategic planners. The aim of the EurOCEAN 2023 science-policy conference is to highlight the synergies between the EU Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030, other EU research and innovation, and management initiatives, and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. EurOCEAN 2023 will attract marine policy makers, marine scientists, science stakeholders and communicators, maritime industry representatives and European and national decision makers and programme managers, i.e. those that set, manage and implement the marine science agenda. We are pleased to invite you to the matchmaking event as a follow up event to our two successful webinars within EU Mission for Ocean and waters last year. The event is organized by Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office (LINO), Latvian office for Innovation & Technology in Brussels (LAT.TECH), ETAG - Estonian Research Council Brussels Office and Brussels office of the Polish National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), in cooperation with countries National Contacts Points (NCPs). On 25 – 26 April 2023, the European Commission,  in close cooperation with the German Ministry of Education and Research and with the support of the BlueMissionBANOS Co-ordination and Support Action for the Baltic & North Sea, will organise the event Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030”: The Baltic and North Sea lighthouse in action. This event, taking place at the Factory Hammerbrooklyn in Hamburg, aims to mobilise the communities of actors and foster their actions to implement the Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030”, and particularly the Baltic and North Sea lighthouse. The event will focus on the political commitments to implement the Mission, and agree on concrete measures and actions in the Baltic North Sea basin, particularly to make the blue economy carbon-neutral and circular.
